CS2: Smokes Guide - Basic smokes to know on Inferno
With the release of Counter-Strike 2, Inferno got a visual revamp and like all the maps Valve have removed the skyboxes from Inferno. This means that most of the grenades that were used on Inferno can’t be thrown the same as some of them they relied on the skybox previously.
I have found some easy smokes on Inferno to learn in CS2 which may be easier to execute than the others as some of the smokes that people have found require precise movement and aim in order to land properly.
Other Maps:
I highly recommend practicing the smokes a few times in order to memorize them and to make sure that you throw them properly when in-game. You can also take a look at the article regarding practicing grenades and extra commands to help you out with that.

Inferno A Site Smokes
Moto Smoke
The moto smoke is a crucial smoke when you’re trying to take over bombsite A. Smoking off moto cuts off any rotators and any awper that may be holding the site from long or library. If you combined the moto smoke with a long smoke then you can just run up from mid to short and take over the bombsite by clearing any defenders that may be on the bombsite.
In order to throw the moto smoke, head towards mid and line yourself up with this pipe as shown, aim at the middle of the light bulb in front of you and simply jump throw the smoke. Just make sure that your team has mid control and nobody is pushing you from banana so you don’t get caught off-guard when throwing the smoke.
Throw Type: Jump throw
Difficulty: 2/5

Short Side Smoke
The new changes to inferno has updated the textures on the bridge and the smoke does not work for now.
This smoke is going to smoke off short and boiler as it lands right outside the entrance of it and the new smokes would expand towards boiler as well blocking off vision that’s holding short from there. The smoke may require some practice as the lineup is a bit tricky to get it right first and may not land properly.
In order to line up the smoke, stand next to the pipe as shown that is under the bridge in second mid. Aim towards the left side of this dark line as shown and jump throw the smoke. The smoke may require some practice as it can be a difficult lineup.
If you’re having trouble with jump throws then take a look at our helpful article here.
Throw Type: Jump throw
Difficulty: 4/5

Long Side Smoke
The Long smoke helps you push up from mid without being shot from 2 different directions. This also lets your team take over the site easily when combined with the moto smoke as mentioned earlier.
In order to throw the long smoke, you need to go to second mid and stand in the corner of the door to T apartments as shown in the image below. Aim to the bottom right corner of the window as pointed and jump throw the smoke.
Throw Type: Jump throw
Difficulty: 2/5

Short Site/Pit Smoke
UPDATE: Due to the changes on the map, this smoke does not work as the red shop has been moved a bit further.
This smoke lands deep into the bombsite towards short blocking off anyone holding short from pit. Line up with this red wall in second mid, aim in the middle of the L and C at apartments and jump throw the smoke. This should block off the pit player but anyone from site can still peek you so be wary of that position. This is to help you from being picked off from pit when pushing up from short.
Throw Type: Jump throw
Difficulty: 2/5

CT Arch Smoke
This smoke can be used to help you wrap around the A bomb site if pushing from long as it will help you reduce one area of confrontation and only look towards moto and library.
In order to throw this smoke stand by this ledge at second mid near the door to the T apartments as shown in the image below. Aim at the center top part of the wooden window frame and jump throw the smoke. The smoke should land inside the arches and blocking off any CT rotators from B.
Throw Type: Jump throw
Difficulty: 2/5

CT Smoke
There’s many variations to the CT smoke in Counter-Strike 2. A few of them bloom on top of the boost spot as well in order to block off the vision of anyone boosted as well as at CT due to the new volumetric smokes.
This lineup also lands on the boost spot however, it’s forgiving in the sense that even if you miss it then it would just at CT instead. In order to throw the smoke, stand next to the barrels in banana. Aim at the left side of the tower and then move your cursor up till you reach the wall as seen in the picture and simply throw the smoke.
Even if your aim is off and you don’t throw it properly then it would just smoke off CT allowing you to still safely cross.
Throw Type: Normal throw
Difficulty: 4/5

There is an another easier lineup that you can which would just block off CT spawn. This smoke is from a much safer spot if you don’t have banana control or might be getting flanked from mid. In order to throw this smoke, stand in the small cubby behind the half-wall, aim the left corner of the roof as shown in the images below and left click throw the smoke.
Throw Type: Normal throw
Difficulty: 1/5

Coffins Smoke
This smoke is pretty simple however the lineup is a bit unusual as you need to align the smoke according to your view-model.
To do the coffin smoke, stand in the corner of car/barrels as shown. Next up you need to crouch and pull the pin on the smoke. As you’re holding the grenade pulled, align your index finger to the left of the bulb as shown and simply throw the smoke. The smoke should land at coffins and block off anyone on coffins unless they jump all the way up at which point they are completely exposed anyway.
The smoke lineup may change later on if Valve decides to introduce left-handed models.
Throw Type: Normal throw
Difficulty: 1/5

Alternate Coffins Smoke
Another alternate way to smoke coffins is to stand by the corner behind the half-wall as pointed in the image below and aim at the light bulb that is right above the ladder on the roof of the building. Left click throw the smoke and it should smoke off coffins however, keep in mind that due to the volumetric effect there may be a chance that someone behind the coffins may be able to peek through.
Throw Type: Normal throw
Difficulty: 2/5
